SEO is a big part of webdevelopment these days. Combined Minds gets about 40% of its visitors just from google alone!
Techniques to optimize code for google are found everywhere, but do they really work? In this topic we'll discuss it with eachother, what SEO is usefull, what SEO is useless.
I'll kickoff with mod_rewrite (or another module for other http servers).
In my opinion this can really help google, of course i cant say this being 100% sure, but the rewriting really helped allot of my websites getting nicely indexed by google.
What do you guys think of rewriting?

Rewriting is very useful. It should be used when you can use it to give your pages some more nice keywords and it's useful for google to detect related content.
